Do you want it or not?

What was the last big insight you had into your own life? I’m hoping that you’ve had at least a few of them. You know, those shifts in perspective that change your whole life. Maybe the more important question is: What did you do after the insight? Some people would celebrate their new and improved self and create amazing things in their life. But for most of us, I’m guessing it goes something like thing: “I can’t believe I’ve been so stupid all these years! What was I thinking? People must think I’m an idiot!” O.K., if that’s the way we respond to an insight, are we really going to be inspired to keep growing and learning? I think not. It’s a bit of a sticky wicket. We want to improve but when we finally do, we punish ourselves.

I’m trying a new tactic. When I have a stunning “Ah ha” moment, I express gratitude and remind myself that I’m always doing the best I can with what I know. I’m always working on being grateful for what I love having because that’s how I get more of it!

How do you tend to respond when you get a major attitude adjustment?
